On the morning of January 4, 2016, the Opening Ceremony for the Third NPU International Winter Camp was held on Youyi Campus. Mr. Sun Wubin, who is both the vice dean of the International College, and deputy director of Office of International Cooperation, attended the ceremony.

   

In his address, Mr. Sun first of all extended warm welcome to the campers from different countries, and then he briefly introduced Xi’an, an ancient capital city of China, and the general situation of NPU to them. He hoped that the campers could access Chinese culture and reap friendship through camping here in NPU. In the end he wished that everything go well with all the campers.

   

The campers’ representative, a girl from South Korea gave a speech in Chinese and English. She said that she was interested in Chinese culture and was fervently looking forward to the activities arranged by the Camp. Meng XianZong and BaiGe, the two representatives of the volunteers for the Camp expressed their enthusiasm to serve the Winter Camp, displaying the volunteers’ positive spirit.

   

2016 Winter Camp will be progressing in two periods lasting one month, in which all together over 70 international students of 15 countries from 20 colleges and universities will participate. International College has especially arranged various courses and activities like visiting some famous places of interests, experiencing the folk customs and culture typical of Shaanxi province and so on. The Winter Camp this year aims to enable the overseas students from various parts of the world to learn about NPU’s campus culture, appreciate the townscape of Xi’an and have a feel for the profound and extensive Chinese civilization, meanwhile enhancing NPU’s international publicity and influence, contributing to the good international atmosphere of the school through the communication between Chinese and foreign students.
