Report from NPU News Net on Nov 17: At the beginning of this month, SunYu, the Vice Director of International Cooperation Department of NPU, went toBrussels Free University in Belgium and attended the EU Erasmus Mundus ExternalWindow Plan Project Conference. During the conference, the universitycoordinator of the project members submitted the summary and reported theproject’s implementation situation to the European commission research and theconsultative committee. The project team has also reached the agreement on thefollow-up cooperation plan.
Two programs in Erasmus Mundus project, namely TANDEM and EACEA applied byNPU in 2009, have already been approved by European Commission and now NPU hasbecome a formal member of Central Europe Elite College Alliance. This startedthe first step in developing the cooperation between the international highlevel education groups and universities. And NPU also became one of a fewdomestic universities and colleges, whose two programs have been approved atthe same time. The funds of these two programs are more than 600 thousand euros(the total project fund is more than 10000 thousand euros). This money will beused to develop the exchange programs among teachers and the students with thedegrees of bachelor, master, doctor and post-doctor in order to build up theplatform for the deeper cooperation between NPU and the European leadinguniversities and as well as to provide the channel and the fund support. Atpresent, the project goes on smoothly and 18 teachers and students have beensent to some European cooperative universities and colleges.
The implement of the EU Erasmus Mundus Project has made a good lead inpushing and deepening the substantive cooperation between NPU and Europeancooperative universities and colleges. Based on this project, our universityalso applied to establish the national coalition laboratory between China andBelgium with the Brussels Free University who is in the same project team inorder to develop the dual training with 1+1 double degrees program. Theimplement of the EU Erasmus Mundus Project has not only opened the channel forthe cooperation among teachers and students between our university and theEuropean ones, but also strengthened the foundation for their long-termacademic development and communication. And at the same time the internationalinfluence of NPU has been promoted as well.
